The Fall 2011 Semester Final consisted of creating a garment made entirely of recyclable material, focusing on the manipulation and transformation of waste into sustainable fashion.  I used over a hundred oyster shells from restaurants around Providence to sculpt my garment.  I utilized both sides of the shell, as well as all broken pieces bound together to create a mosaic effect.  Many of the shells underwent a variety of treatments to enhance their natural color, and finally glossed over to create a dewey, mermaidian effect.
